Hello, y’all.  I’ve been processing my guts out working to resolve all the issues centered around my car accident last July.  With the single exclusion of some small twinges and loud cracks in my neck, I feel good about saying that I’m 100% healed.

2011 Plans for Paperwork Partners

In addition to my personal resolutions this coming New Year, I have decided to spend a few dollars to unfold some new skills in a series of classes that will ultimately benefit you and any new clients who come on board.

In my classes, taught by a Geek Virtual Assistant, I’ll be learning about:

• 1ShoppingCart, Aweber & Paypal
• Social Media & Marketing, Blog promotion, ezine maintenance
• Product Launches
• Online Payment setup
• Wordpress savvy

It’s kind of exciting and a bit scary since some of the above skills are things I’ve subcontracted out before for my own business.  Some of the above I’m somewhat familiar with, and I’d like to deepen my skills. Time to bite the technical geek bullet, I guess.

Eek! My seat!

Those twelve lovely firemen and paramedics (sigh!) were most caring.  While some of them used the Jaws of Life to pry open the driver’s side doors and remove the post in between them, one of them sat or knelt in the back seat and talked to me through that ordeal.  He also kept asking me questions to see if I was still conscious or not and the poor dear had sweat just pouring off his face in the heat. I so appreciated his running commentary of the progress being made because it helped keep me oriented.

Before I knew it, a back board was slid under me and I was on a gurney and in the ambulance on the ten mile drive to the hospital.  I was doing mental work to be sure that my perfect health was manifesting as it ought to, and I’m convinced that this mental work disappeared anything that was unlike my mind model.  I frequently closed my eyes to concentrate and make sure my conviction was strong, and this started off another series of questions:  “Are you ok? Can you breathe all right?” I know they put a neck brace on me crooked, but I didn’t say anything because I knew the brace was unnecessary anyway.  They also administered oxygen via a face mask and it damn near choked off ALL air.  Seriously, I could not breathe as well with it on as with it off.  So I slide it off my face.  It still cost me $150.00.

It was a dizzying trip from the ambulance into the Emergency Room, but what an Emergency Room it was!  The hospital is one specifically catering to Emergencies.  I had a male nurse who was Hispanic but his name was more Middle Eastern.  Dang if I can remember it.  He was a wonderfully attentive nurse.

What really impressed me was the fact that the hospital provided an employee (no clue what her title was) who’s only task was to contact the so-called victim’s families and let them know I’d been in an accident.  Now that was decidedly humane and cool.  My elder son didn’t recognize the incoming call’s number, so he didn’t pick up.  My younger son did pickup and I got to speak to him and let him know what had happened.  They got the word out to the family.  I have a dear sister whom I lovingly call Paulina Revere and she spread the word far and wide!

My sons and d-in-law headed down to the hospital tout suite.  While I waited, the – oh, let’s call her the Emergency Room Concierge – came to me with her cell phone and said I had a call.  I placed the phone near my ear, and I heard “Hello, this is Perfect Mind.  Who’s this?”  And I answered “It’s Perfect Health. Hi Dave.”  I teach my darling brother David metaphysics, and we’d been working on his healing for some months.  He was just giving me a dose of my own medicine, but it brought me to tears with the beauty and the truth of it. And I’m happy to say that since then, David’s healing has also been completed.  Yay!

The long and the short of it is that I had twelve hours to visit with my kids (5 minutes at a time) and lots of time to just lay there and affirm everything was just perfect.  The C-1 vertebrae crack disappeared.  The high blood sugar count came way down.  By midnight, my sons and d-in-law were driving me back home.  I was tender and tentative but whole and complete and headed home, good be praised. The paramedics kept visiting me each time they brought another victim in and were in awe that I wasn’t hurt more due to the condition of my car. I know beyond doubt’s shadow that my mental work had saved the day, to say nothing of my very life.

Patty Loves The A Team

On Friday, July 9th, I was headed east on Hwy 10 toward Palm Desert and a visit to my step mom’s house. Dede is in her 90’s and a tribute to womanhood, so I was eager to see her that morning.  I had stopped at Jensen’s Market for a donut and coffee (must haves for traveling), and I also had a 32 oz. bottle of AquaFina with me.  Trust me, those details do become important.

The trip off the mountain and onto the I 10 were uneventful.  There wasn’t much traffic, and, as is my wont, I like to do mental work while I’m driving.  I’d been working on weight loss that morning, and I’d been able through deep thought to arrive at a place of peace and recognition about the truth of my Being.

I find that it’s entirely possible to focus my thinking AND drive.  One doesn’t detract from the other.  The guy in front of me seemed to be poking along, so I decided to pass him.  I accelerated into the next right lane.  While in that sacred sense of mind (remember the peace and recognition of the truth,) my car began to fishtail.  I live where knowing how to drive in the snow is important, so I steered into the direction of the curve, and zip! nada! nothing!  It just kept fishtailing. I remember thinking to myself “Why in heaven’s name isn’t the car correcting itself?” And that’s when the car, my dear friend the Chevy Trailblazer SS, began to roll over.

It happened slow-mo.  I thought “Oh, wow! The car is rolling over.  Again.  And again!” I had no sense of fear at all.  And then, my dear Chevy (um, his name was Jack Black) landed on all four wheels facing the opposite direction I’d been headed.  I was aware that I was covered in glass and the side airbags had detonated. But I was still at peace and thought “A cop will be by soon.”

So, I just sat there and waited for him.  He was a Highway Patrol officer.  He spoke to me at my window (mostly busted out) and then he went around to the other side of the car and asked me questions like “What year is it? What’s your name?  How many fingers am I holding up? Are you conscious?”  Am I conscious! WTF!!!  He said the firemen and paramedics would be along in a few minutes, so I used the electronics in the seat to recline the back and lay down.  It just felt like the thing to do.

I believe that my state of mind right before the accident is what carried me through it so that I could even be here to tell you about it today.  I believe it’s the mind that governs and my mind plus that tank of a Chevy saved my life that day.

I was taken to Desert Regional Trauma Hospital where I spent twelve long hours.  This is where I met the neatest male nurse who understood his presence along with a bed pan caused stage fright.  Remember that coffee and the 32 ounces of water I’d left the mountain?  It was ready, and ready, and ready!

I will take up this story at this point the next time there’s a drizzly, rainy day like today, and tell you how my thinking helped me get through this ordeal. But one parting gift.

I learned a lot through this experience.  I learned that I need to drive more slowly and I now do. I learned that I had diabetes and I’ve since then lost 40 pounds with more to go.  And I learned how many people love me.  Nice lessons, eh?

One of the things that got let go when I had my car accident was this blog.

I am healing slowly but surely.  The accident surely shook the heck out of me and made me go into a deep introspection.

I have wanted to share with you how I was able to walk away from this, even though this is not a “personal” blog.

As many of my clients know, I’m a student and teacher of metaphysics in addition to being a Virtual Assistant.

Is he motivated?  Well, sure, for a cement head.    But I want this week’s blog post to be for my sole proprietor clients and their personal motivation and their messy spirituality, which I think go hand in hand.

I think many of us have this tendency to segment and categorize our lives, especially when it comes to business.  I view things a bit differently.  I see things as one, giant, whole.  I think my business is my main way to unfold spirituality. I cannot begin to share with you the hundreds of things I learn about my spirit, my life, and my own heart right inside my business.  So, let me give you an example.  If you’re one of my VA clients, don’t worry.  I never break our confidentiality.

I do a lot of research for one of my clients in a segregated field of study.  We aren’t exactly chatty Cathies with one another.  Mainly, we communicate via email.  I learned from this form of communication one important thing about myself:

• I must exercise courage and ask questions when I don’t understand the instructions completely.  I have this thing from my own childhood called “Never admit you don’t know.” I have had to encourage myself to ask the needed questions even when I thought they’d make me look unintelligent, another childhood foible. So, from this seemingly innocuous incident, I had to get personally motivated to do what needed to be done, and I augmented my own messy spirituality by doing just that.

And, the research got accomplished.  Those VA tasks I perform are viewed as “the things I merely do” because my spirituality gets top billing in my life.  Don’t misunderstand me: there are lots of things, tasks and people standing one rung below my spirituality, nudging for first place.  I made this decision a long time ago and I think putting spirituality first is working for me. That’s why I say my VA business is soulful.

I wonder sometimes if you entrepreneurs can integrate both your business and your spiritual life? It adds a layer of interest, makes me feel if I’m getting double the good out of what I “merely do” and gives me a strong feeling of accomplishment.

I’m a Virtual Assistant.  Now from a business perspective, this is important to know because it’s my face holding my space on the internet.  But from a spiritual perspective, it matters not one whit, because if that were true, the only way you could gain spiritual enlightenment is to become a VA.  Wouldn’t that be silly?

The job you are in, and I strongly hope you are a sole proprietor or an entrepreneur because you are my target market, requires a certain level of skills in the business world.  If you don’t have all of the ones you need, you hire a VA to compliment your skills set and we both live happily ever after.  But in the spiritual world, you gain your enlightenment as you move through your business day, maybe a bit like this:

A client of yours calls you and makes requests of you.  One of the requests triggers something in you and you have an angry reaction.  You exercise your virtues of patience and courage:  patience to keep your nasty thoughts unspoken and kept inside you; courage to keep on speaking in a professional manner to your client.  You score!  You’ve unfolded a higher, stronger sense of your virtue set and you’re one silly millimeter further on down the path toward complete spiritual enlightenment and understanding.

You can do this on a surfboard, milking cows, serving food at The Olive Garden, powdering a baby’s heine, picking raspberries, or being an entrepreneur as I am.  I look at my business life through soulful eyes and when I am your VA, I look at your business life through the same eyes – oh, plus my business skills for getting your tasks done.  Gotta love the perspective.

I love my clients.  We spin ideas back and forth between us.  It’s my work motivation and it’s also my gratitude for them in my life.  I love to dream up new, fresh ways to make their businesses grow.  I love our interactions. I love the work I get to do for them. I love learning about their businesses and freeing them up to do what they do best.  Here is a list of what some of my client’s work is: coaching (lots of these), attorney, technical engineering writer, televised cooking show producer, NLP Practitioner, senior health care caregiver and headhunter.

You might ask: “Why such a wide variety of clients?”  Because I do administrative work that is quite similar for all of them, and because my work motivation thrives with variety.

Sunday nights you might overhear me say “I don’t want to go to work tomorrow.”  That just means I want more weekend, because once I slide into my harness and begin to pull, it is so much fun, that Pat Matson is enthralled, motivated, and extremely grateful for my Virtual Assistant business.

Today, I want to share a few helpful virtual assistant services I provide and then let  you know about some that you can use yourself to make  your life easier.

I am an article writer.  I love to ghostwrite articles for my Virtual Assistant Clients. I write in their voice, because I’ve taken the time to get to know them, their business, and how they want to be presented.  It’s worked handsomely for both of us:  I get to do what I love to do; they get articles posted on the internet with links back to their site (which increases their Google position); and they don’t have to sweat worrying over “how shall I market my business.”

I am a ghost writer. Because I have a metaphysical / psychological background, my writing works really well for coaches.  I find that my experience in self-growth really augments what needs to be written for a coach’s on-line business.  I’ve also found it works well around the topics involving divorce, because that is in my experience, too.  I have permission from two clients to show you some examples of this writing.  You can find the coaching articles here, and you can find the divorce articles here.

When I decided to have a blog on my newly re-done website, I scratched my head to decide what Virtual Assistant topics I could share with my clients, friends, and then on out there on the world wide web. That think-a-long became the Categories you see on the right of the screen.

Today, I’m writing about consciousness.  Consciousness,  your mentality, is the primal element out of which each of us is created.  It’s unfolding a full sense of your Self that is the reason you’re where you are and I’m being a VA, blogging my little fingers to the bone. As I do my VA work, I’m concurrently figuring out what virtues I have; the best way to use them; what life is about; and how my preferences get from inside me out in to the world as experience.

I call myself the behind-the-throne whisperer VA because I have a keen insight into the lives of my clients and sometimes, my whispered perspective allows them to see the good I see in them, to sigh back into acceptance and enjoyment, and then be glad that not only do I type and create, but I also share wise counsel.

This consciousness thing unfolding in you as you is one of my favorite topics, but I promised myself to only make these blog posts snippets.  You can always email me for more.
